Five Hearts, One Cause: Our City2Surf Team Runs (and Walks) for Ukraine
This year’s City2Surf reminded us that you don’t need a big team to make a big impact. With just five incredibly dedicated supporters, our Ukraine Support Fund City2Surf team raised over $9,000 AUD for our Bone Fixators for Injured Limbs campaign—a vital initiative helping Ukrainians recover from war-related injuries.
At the heart of this effort is Kate, our fundraising inspiration. Through her creative storytelling and heartfelt posts, Kate has an extraordinary ability to move people to action—no one reads her words without caring.
Kate is a proud Ukrainian and, in her own words, was “over the moon” to be raising funds for the Ukraine Support Fund at this year’s City2Surf. While she doesn’t consider herself a runner, Kate has been walking City2Surf every year since 2022, turning each step into meaningful support for Ukraine.
Since the full-scale invasion began, Kate has been a passionate supporter of fundraisers for Ukrainian civilians and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This year marked a special moment—moving from donor to fundraiser—and amplifying her impact even further.
We extend our deepest thanks to Kate, Ellen, Liz, Henry, Natalia, and to every donor who supported this campaign. Your generosity is helping restore mobility, dignity and hope to those living with the consequences of war.
Thank you for standing with Ukraine. 💙💛
